February 28, 2007 - Homax anounces Tile Guard™ One Step Grout Sealer for maximum grout protection
BELLINGHAM, WA, February 28, 2007 – Homax, a major manufacturer of home improvement products for the DIY enthusiast, has just announced the distribution expansion for One Step Grout Sealer.
A penetrating formula, One Step Grout Sealer provides a long lasting barrier to resist stains from spills, water and oil. It seals out moisture and forms a physical barrier to protect grout against mildew.
This protective barrier buys a homeowner “response time” when tending to an accident from spilled liquids.
Easy to apply, One Step Grout Sealer utilizes a “walk and spray” nozzle. This “No-Wipe – No Residue – Sealer” benefits the homeowner as tedious overspray cleanup is unnecessary; the excess sealer simply evaporates from tiles.
Consumers can be confident that they are using a grout sealer that provides maximum protection for their newly installed grout. While less expensive silicone sealers repel water, they don’t repel oil so staining can occur. Acrylic sealers also repel water and are better at preventing stains from oil-based spills but do not provide the best defense from accidents. One Step Grout Sealer is a fluoropolymer-based sealer which provides the maximum protection from accidental spills of oil-based, water-based and solvent-based stains.
When applying One Step, customers can visually confirm where they’ve already sprayed as there is a temporary darkening of grout. When dried, the grout returns to its natural state. This fluoropolymer sealer also will not add a shine to the grout, making this the perfect sealer when the natural look is desired.
One Step Grout Sealer allows grout moisture to evaporate as the grout cures so can be applied one day after tile has been grouted. As an impregnating sealer, it protects new grout by forming a breathable seal below the surface with non-stick characteristics similar to Teflon.
Providing tiles with maximum protection by creating a physical barrier to moisture, One Step Grout Sealer lasts up to 15 years. In high traffic areas, it is suggested that One Step be reapplied every 1 to 2 years.
